I checked the weather last night before going to bed. They forecast predicted temps down into the upper 50s. So, like a redneck, I opened the windows to let in the cool, refreshing air. Now, it's so nice.the air is light and crisp with a slight breeze.
The mind plays dirty tricks on the mind. As m enjoying the cool temps, my mind wanders back to the days when I was young and the August days were similar to now. I remember times of going fishing early and needed a overshirt to keep from shivering and you cuddled up with cousins to keep warm in an open pickup bed. Sitting on the river bank, talking softly and seeing your breath.

Eclipse Safety

The total eclipse is fast approaching. It's only a few days away. Please check and make sure that prepare for eclipse watching in advance. Don't wait until the last minute. The longer you wait, the greater chance of injury. The blindness caused by observing with the naked eye is permanent. The light from the sun will also ruin camera optics. Be cautious about that too.
You can find several plans to make your own eclipse viewer. They are available on the internet so, Google them.
Make sure that your glasses have an ISO 12312-2 certification. Reputable manufacturers will print the certification on the glasses. Check to see if the manufacturer is also printed on the glasses. This is important if there is an injury while using the products.
One final item...there is nothing to do if its raining or cloudy. Sorry. Watch it on tv.

White hate by the numbers
Let's look at some numbers....The vast number of the US population prefer equality over other points of view. Only a small fraction of people have the inequality point of view. I would guess (just a guess) that out of the 325 million citizens (no, I didn't take into account of ages) less than 30,000 are involved in white supremacy activities. That's a very, very, very small percent of the population. A couple of thousand haters in +/- 1000 hate groups according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. I love numbers and I'm not concerned about it.
It only takes a handful of people to cause problems. Two handfuls easily attract media coverage. Racism is an easy payday for the news agencies. All they have to do is start taking pictures. Actually, in reality, they just reuse someone else's media. News is instantaneous. A handful of idiots, a dozens of cameras and you get Oh My God the sky is falling. You add idiots in opposition, it's the Apocalypse!!
White supremacy IS a worrisome problem. But, it has been taken way out of proportion. How much out of proportion? One media outlet said that there were 63 million white supremacists. That number comes from the number of people who voted for Trump. That's bullshit. (Hey, the political left use profanity, why can't I?) That kind of thinking makes all Muslims terrorists. It just ain't so.
Now, the statues are really a none issue. The real issue is irrational fear. Those statues have been around for several decades. A few are over a hundred years old. Why now? What do a handful of racists have to do with statues? Absolutely nothing. The statues are just another excuse to keep hate going.

Un-American Activity
I know Senator Joseph McCarthy has wore out his coffin from rolling over. (If you don't know who Joseph McCarthy, educate yourself.) Communism/Socialism is alive and doing well in the United States. Many Americans are oblivious to this. They fail to see how dangerous the situation has become. The United States is re-organizing into the United Socialist States of America. I am dead serious. The warning signs are everywhere but they are being ignored. More Americans are worried about the signs of the Apocalypse or the Second Coming than the communist take over of their country.
The Communist/Socialist take over of America comes in many shapes and sizes. On one side there are Neo-Nazis and other white supremacist movements. On the other side there are socialists and communists. We all know these groups. They are nothing new. We have been living with white supremacists, communists and socialists even anarchists for over a hundred years. We know their stories and histories. New groups have sprung up. Why we remember
Around the Southern U.S. there are hundreds of monuments to dead Confederate soldiers. They question shouldn't be what they represent but who they represent. I opine that monuments to Confederate soldiers do not represent slavery, but the bravery of thousands of individuals, standing in lines across a field walking into swarms of lead balls. The monuments represent what is best in America, standing up for what you believe in and stand for this belief even unto death.
The United States has a strong and proud history of military service. The bravery of the American soldier is unquestionable and has been demonstrated time and time again. This bravery is without question or challenge. We have always been proud of this heritage. In fact, our nation would not exist without this sacrifice. I am a product of generations of men with the ability to serve through the horrors and sacrifices of war. Win or lose, we remember the sacrifice and service of our veterans.

The Illusion of Equality
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." These lines come from the Declaration of Independence. Ever since those words were penned to paper, Americans have been on a continual quest for equality.
Equality is an illusion. Thomas Jefferson knew equality was a lie when he wrote the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson had his food cooked, clothes washed and gardens worked by slaves. Under his very nose, Jefferson there was no equality of persons. In colonial Virginia, 30%of the population were slaves. In addition to Jefferson, a third of the Founding Fathers owned slaves.* Yet, all these men and non-slave owners signed the Declaration of Independence.
Over the next 200 years, equality were granted to different segments of the population. By the 21st Century, one would think that equality was no longer an issue and every one was equal. Sure, there are little things that need to be tidied up. Unfortunately, equality is still out of reach. Every time a group of citizens are granted equality, another groups loses some portion of their equality. The First Amendment to the Constitution has been hit pretty hard. Other parts of the Constitution and the Amendments have been eroded.**

Giving up freedoms
I think this is something you should read, sit back and think about. This isn't so much political than it is about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I will try my best to stay on point.
The Constitution and Bill of Rights are the foundation of our nation. These documents have sustained the nation and maintained our freedom. The first ten amendments to the Constitution were set down because the Founding Fathers knew they were basic freedoms that all citizens would need as long as the United States existed. The Bill of Rights is our guarantees our freedom.
As our nation grew, new amendments were added to keep the nation and it's citizens to ensure our continuing freedom. Since the Signers ratified the Constitution, only one Amendment has been repealed, the 18th Amendment, what we remember as Prohibition. The 18th Amendment was repealed by the ratification of the 21st Amendment. The 18th Amendment was ill conceived from it's inception. It was not one of the original ten.
Now, there is a movement to remove the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment was necessary, as the Founding Fathers believed, was important to allow all citizens to protect the nation from invasion and themselves from a corrupt and tyrannical government. But, this is not the main topic of this op-ed. The Second Amendment is a freedom guaranteed by the original Bill of Rights.
We value our amendments. They are prized highly because they set down that guarantees our freedom with exception those that concern congressional term limits and taxes. All amendments are of equal standing. The only amendments that have supremacy are the Bill of Rights. What if we lose an amendment? The majority of amendments ensure our rights and our freedoms. Some additions, have clarified to enforce the "All men are created equal..." of the Declaration of Independence.
Some of the amendments do not exactly effect your rights. Term limits only effects those in office. Would it bother you to have one of these amendments were repealed? I might be inclined to say, "No." But, I would leave it. I would not want to set a precedence.
Would you support the repeal of the 5th Amendment? (As a reminder, the 5th Amendment guarantees our right to due process, prevents self-incrimination and double jeopardy.) The 5th Amendment protects us from a corrupt judicial system. How about it? If you have ever been arrested, you know the 5th Amendment prevents the police from asking incriminating questions. With the addition of warnings mandated by Miranda vs Arizona, your rights are explained to you and it enhances the 5th Amendment. I bet you would go ballistic if the 5th Amendment were repealed.
Let's put a finer point to it. How would you feel if the Right of Religion was removed from the 1st Amendment? No explanations of the importance of the first of our freedoms is requited. An immediate uprising! We would not stand for one of our most precious amendments and, with support of the military, rebel against the government.
Lets consider the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment was added to the Bill of Rights for several reasons, to protect and defend the nation from outside invasion; to deal with an abusive and tyrannical government; and for the protection of family. We know and understand these reasons. Regardless of advances of technology the 2nd Amendment has shown its need. The French Indian War, the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War and the Indian Wars were partially fought with civilians and their firearms. Then only difference between then and now is the mobilization of a full-time national army. Still the need was there for a man to protect himself and his family from outlaws and the occasional indian raid. Firearms were vital to the provisioning of meat. The importance of 2nd Amendment is vital when you consider practical application of firearms.
We would not allow our Bill of Rights, our freedoms, to be so abridged. What about the 2nd Amendment? Why is there such an idea of repealing it so desirable? All of the Bill of Rights have equal merit including the 2nd Amendment.

Peaceful and lawful assembly
Every group in the United States has the right of peaceful assembly. In some states, Tennessee for one, it is illegal for pedestrians to be on the interstate. Protesters on I-40 in Memphis violated state law by being on I-40. (Oh, the law is in Tennessee Code Annotated 55-8--127*.) It's not about the protest, but about the law. Like free speech, the right to assemble is not absolute. The government can place some restrictions on when, where and/or how it is conducted. Black Lives Matter had the right to protest, just not on I-40.

Blocking of I-40
All these illegal protests does not bring better understanding. All it does is polarize you opposition.
These folks do not know that it is illegal for pedestrians to be on the interstate. Such acts only inflame opposition. Trucks on the interstate carry needed medical supplies and food. What about ambulances? What if a person is in an ambulance needed to be transported to a hospital dies? Is that negligent homicide?
Race
Race is one of those topics that is must discussed but little understood. Race is genetic. The genetic material provides the mental picture that whatever is different is bad. This intrinsic vision of acceptance is why humans and animals babies inprint the faces of their mothers. This is common human nature.
What we consider race is several thousand years old. In the millenniums past, races were divided by national and ethnically differences such as Hebrew, Egyptian, Babylonian and Nubians. Hundreds of years after the fall of Rome when humans looked to skin color as differences of race. After the death of Muhammad did race became tied with race. If you were white many would consider you a Christian. If you were black or in the many shades of black many would assume you were a Muslim. Only those that lived along the borders between Christian and Muslim knew the only difference between them was skin color.
In the last decades of the previous century, it is habitual to see those of different skin as alien, corrupt and evil. Today, we are slowly beginning to see all humans as equals. This change has had problems, it still does and will in the near future. This change, however cannot be forced. Force always meets resistance. Time is necessary for permanent change.
In conclusion, a few aspects of my comment are simplified. Please do your own research.

See what happens....
See what happens when you try and escape a hornets nest full of pissed off hornets. A year ago that is exactly what I did and stepped in a hole tearing ligaments and tendons. After VA dicked around for a year, I was finally allowed to have surgery to have my injuries repaired.
For the last two weeks I have had stitches in a soft cast. This week I had the stitches removed and my foot and ankle were put in a hard cast for four weeks. I have been going to Vanderbilt for my treatment. So far, I am 100% satisfied we their care and professionalism.

Hillary's accomplices
There is much talk about Hillary receiving secrets in her private emails. But, I want to know about those that sent the emails! Those who willfully removed the secret letterheads and warnings then sent them to Hillary or through a chain to her were in violation of federal law. Where they censured for their actions? Did Hillary show her disapproval and indicate penalties for their actions? If she did none of these, Hillary was party to a conspiracy!
These questions, I am sure, would he convict or absolve Hillary. If there is such a conspiracy, it should and must be made public! And, those involved punished.

Great TV
Our cable provider has provided it's subscribers free Encore for a week. We don't subscribe to the premium channels because of repetitious content and, gosh, it's so expensive. Anyway, I was flipping through the channels last and found Encore Black and found Sanford and Son playing. I sat and watched this classic 70's TV show. My sides were splitting I laughed so much. Following Sanford and Son, the laughs continued as The Jeffersons came on.
What happened? Of course, modern, overly sensitive Americans would never accept Archie Bunker or George Jefferson. I certainly hope that we don't reach a point to where All in the Family, The Jeffersons or Sanford and Son are pulled and locked up in a vault somewhere. Our society is richer for these shows.

Spies in mosques
The question has come up about putting undercover police officers or informants in mosques. The Left says it is a violation of the First Amendment to put informants in mosques because it restricts the free exercise of the Islamic faith. Sorry, there is legal precedent showing that matters of national security out way parts of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Don't believe it? During the fight against the Ku Klux Klan, the Federal Bureau do Investigation (FBI) placed informants in in locations where there were likely gathering of Klan members. The FBI slipped informants in to Southern churches to root out Klansmen. It worked. During the 70s and 80s, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alcohol, Tobacco & firearms(ATF) and Drug Enforcement Agency(DEA) placed agents and informants in several of the white supremacy organizations with religious leaders and churches. With the information gained white supremacist were arrested, charged and convicted from infiltration of religious organizations.
So, what's the difference? Since the federal law enforcement agencies have infiltrated Christian, I use the word loosely, churches they sure can infiltrate Muslim centers of worship. I have no problem with agents and informants being placed in places of worship. These infiltrators do not cause problems in the "churches." They are members of the faith they mix with and worship as everyone else. They just collect information and pass it on. No harm, no foul.
Where it's been legally done before, it can be legally done again.

Socialist take over of America.
The Socialists (what I call Democrats) have introduced the Assault Weapons Ban of 2015. Its a bill full of ignorant blather. Using the recent mass shootings across the country, these Socialists are using fear and scare tactics to undermine the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.Their idea is that the Second Amendment is no longer relevant in modern society. Socialists know that after the nation has been deprived of multi-round, semi-automatic rifles, the stage is set for them to further their agenda. Turning America into a Socialist state.
If the Second Amendment is relevant, how long will it take for these Socialists to decide that parts of the First Amendment are no longer relevant. It's easy to see that, too. Already is free speech curtailed. You cannot express your opinion if it does not agree with those with Socialist agendas. Several of the amendments are threatened. Due process has been under attack.
Don't think this is happening? Do you think I'm crazy? If you ask those two questions, then you have already been spoofed by the Socialists. I can, and I will, show you how it works. The Socialist agenda includes marginalize groups of people and then set them at odds with each other. Set class tension by making the rich people villains while making lower and middle classes heroes. Marginalize people who disagree with the Socialist; playing them for fools. Set the current government as evil and out of touch with the citizens then set the Socialist agenda as the friends of the mobs and people. Restrict the ownership of firearms making the citizens unable to defend themselves. The Soviets did this to form the communist in Russia. The Nazis followed the same plan when they took control of the German government. All you have to do is read Marx and the other Socialist authors to see what I'm talking about.

So Over Sandy Hook
Let me preface this by saying that I have never lost a child.
The attack on the Sandy Hook school was horrible. There are other words to describe what happened in 2012. There are so many questions still left unanswered. There are some that will never be answered. The blame game that continues will not solve the puzzles.
I am so over Sandy Hook! This coming December it will be three years. You would think that the Sandy Hook community would be trying to move on and put the shootings to rest, as best they could. Oh no! The victim's parents and others are finding ingenious reasons to file law suits. They had the Lanza home demolished. After suing the Connecticut Board of Education, Newtown Board of Education, Bushmaster firearms, and now they are suing the estate of Nancy Lanza, Adam Lanza's mother. Who will be next victim of the legal express train?
What are we supposed to think? For me, I think that continue the legal processes are trying to get money to ease their pain. Or, they are simply wanting revenge! I wonder how much News for the parents, your lawyers are making a killing!. Besides, how much grief can be erased for $100,00? A million?
The attack on the Sandy Hook school was horrible. There are other words to describe what happened in 2012. There are so many questions still left unanswered. There are some that will never be answered. The blame game that continues will not solve the puzzles.
I am so over Sandy Hook! This coming December it will be three years. You would think that the Sandy Hook community would be trying to move on and put the shootings to rest, as best they could. Oh no! The victim's parents and others are finding ingenious reasons to file law suits. They had the Lanza home demolished. After suing the Connecticut Board of Education, Newtown Board of Education, Bushmaster firearms, and now they are suing the estate of Nancy Lanza, Adam Lanza's mother. Who will be next victim of the legal express train?
What are we supposed to think? For me, I think that continue the legal processes are trying to get money to ease their pain. Or, they are simply wanting revenge! I wonder how much News for the parents, your lawyers are making a killing!. Besides, how much grief can be erased for $100,00? A million?

Sniper in Ferguson
Back a few weeks ago someone mentioned that snipers in combat were cowards. There was a great outcry over this because military snipers have an important roll in combat. They provide cover for advancing troops, the provide protection for dignitaries, and observe enemy movement.Their rolls are vital to combat since the late 19th century. Law enforcement snipers serve the same roll.
Last night, two police officers in Ferguson were shot, both in critical condition. They weren't killed close up or in a fight with protesters. They were shot in cold blood by a sniper. Civilian snipers are not the same as those in the military. Civilian snipers are cowards. They are not brave! They do not have honor! They are criminals. There is no other way to define their actions as justified.
Cowards! Devils! Bastards!

I refuse to be politically correct.
People are wearing so much crap on their shirt sleeves. Everything offends them. I am tired of trying to think of what I want to say before I say it. It's rather confusing trying figure out what to say and how to say it without hurting someones feelings.
The worst offenders in the PC world are politicians, Facebook users, Twitter users and the news media. With President Obama refusing to call ISIS terrorists or Islamic extremists is allowing ISIS to do as the please. A company is New Zealand or Australia had to redo labeling because the care instructions included a statement telling the man to take to a woman. It was very tongue-in-cheek but it hurt someones feelings. I'm not even going to state on the greatest offenders,..Democrats. I am not afraid of calling them Socialist.
I am not saying I will throw away politeness or just plain rude, Yes, you should always be nice. There was a time in America when plain talk to regarded as a plus in anyone's character. Beating around the bush was considered shifty and untrustworthy. We need to bring back plain language. Stop all this pussy footing around.
If I have offended anyone, tough shit.
