Seeing the truth

I have great issues with people at the moment. (Well, some people anyway.) Can any one tell what truth is? IF you believe something is true, does that make it so? That sentence contained two things that are opposites, a belief and a truth. It doesn't matter if you believe the sun is up (while I write this) but it is the truth. Two totally different things...

I like to express the example above by the following: 1+1=2. It's the truth. There is no way around it. When you believe something without supporting evidence then the equation turns into (≅) 1 + (≅) 1 ≅2. The ≅ stands for information that may or may not be entirely accurate and that is subject to interpretation. Either or both parts of the left side of the equation may be true, false or questionable, but either makes the right side questionable. It may not be the truth, but it is based on belief.

Unfortunately, Man has always struggled with the truth. Maybe we aren't able to process what is really true and what is belief. I believe in God, but there is no real evidence to support that at truth. How do we manage what is true and what isn't?
