Ole Miss BITE ME!

Since the 1940s, the McKenzie High School has been known as the McKenzie Rebels, sporting the icon 'Colonel' of the University of Mississippi as it's mascot. The McKenzie Rebels were proud to use the mascot. Now, Ole Miss has decided that the McKenzie school system in Tennessee, can no longer use the mascot.

Attorneys from the University of Mississippi in Jackson, MS have notified the school system that the mascot is copyrighted material does not have permission to use the 'Colonel." McKenzie, Tennessee is a city of 5,500 people in rural West Tennessee approximately half way between Memphis and Nashville. The high school is going to have to spend $15,000 to remove the mascot from the basketball court. Fortunately, Ole Miss was gracious enough to give the school a few years to get the work done.

Bite Me, Ole Miss!! You don't even use the mascot any more. What harm does a small town cause by using the mascot? The school makes little money selling t-shirts with the 'Colonel.' It has been a source of pride for more 60 years. What about the othe shcool systems that use the mascot? You gonna harrass them too?
